Meet Gregg DeVoogd
I grew up in a small town outside Port Huron, Michigan. I now reside in Port Huron. I am a disabled veteran with a service dog named Sterling. I live with my wife, who I have been with for 25 years. I have a daughter, 13 years old, and a son, 6 years old.
I have always wanted to go on new adventures and try new things. I have had this idea for the book, “An Easy Lesson Learned the Hard Way” for a long time. Even after a move and losing the first copy of the transcript, I persevered through it all and wrote the book.
I give my deepest appreciation to God for allowing me to have the determination and persistence to complete this book. I also appreciate my wife who has always stood by my side and my daughter for the love of the manuscript which encouraged me to publish it.
As for the CD, it was really different because I was always disappointed or did not believe when people would say that God talked to them. At night, I usually woke with night terrors but for a while I have awoken to images that are peaceful then I would go downstairs and start typing away. I cannot sing but I found a person who would take my lyrics, polish them up since writing is not my strong suit and then put it to the type of music I envisioned it as.
The songs have really touched my heart and are all pieces of my life. I feel better getting them out there and feel more at peace. I have even started jotting down both more ideas for another book and more songs. I have been nervous about releasing both the book and CD because you never know how someone is going to feel about them. So far I have had nothing but positive feedback for both with is so encouraging.

Book - Easy Lesson Learned the Hard Way
Join us on an adventure with two teenage boys who learned a lesson the hard way about fires. This true story will give you insight on how kids sometimes just have to learn the hard way when they don't listen to their parents.

Book - Don't Let the SQUIRREL Run the School!
Don't Let the Squirrel Run the School! is a humorous picture book for young readers that explores leadership, responsibility, and the importance of structure in a playful and age-appropriate way.
When Principal Parker steps out of the classroom for "just one minute," an enthusiastic squirrel named Mr. Pippin sees an opportunity to take charge. At first, his ideas sound exciting-unlimited recess, easy grades, and rule-free days-but the students quickly realize that running a school takes more than good intentions. As Mr. Pippin's decisions spiral into chaos, the children learn why rules exist and why thoughtful leadership matters.
Told through expressive illustrations and simple dialogue, the story invites children to think critically about fairness, consequences, and the difference between fun choices and responsible ones. The tone is lighthearted and comedic, with visual humor that encourages engagement and discussion between children and adults.
This book is the first title in The Mr. Pippin Series, which follows the mischievous squirrel as he attempts to take on roles he may not be ready for-often with entertaining and instructive results.
